What Is a Contact Lens Exam?
While a regular eye exam determines your prescription for glasses, a contact lens exam focuses on how lenses will fit and perform directly on your eyes. Because contact lenses sit on the surface of the eye, this additional level of testing is essential for comfort and safety.
During your exam, our optometrists assess the shape and health of your eyes, evaluate your tear film, and determine how different lenses interact with your eye’s surface. This allows us to recommend options that correct your vision and support long-term eye health.
What to Expect at Laster Eye Center
Your contact lens exam is designed to be efficient and personalized to your needs. During your visit, our optometrists will evaluate your vision, assess the shape and health of your eyes, and determine which lens options are best suited for you.
Your exam may include:
- Vision testing and prescription update
- Measurements of the eye’s surface and curvature—we have advanced corneal topography in all of our offices
- Tear film evaluation for comfort and lens compatibility
- Trial lens fitting and assessment
- Guidance on insertion, removal, and proper lens care
Our Contact Lens Fitting Process
Finding the right contact lenses isn't a one-size-fits-all decision. We take the time to evaluate how different lenses fit, feel, and perform on your eyes.
During your fitting, we will have you try on lenses and assess how they sit on your eyes and how your vision responds. Based on your experience and our evaluation, we may make small adjustments to find the ideal fit.
In some cases, a follow-up visit may be recommended to ensure your lenses continue to perform well over time.
